After the victory of the resistance against the Ming enemy (1418 – 1427), Le Loi crowned at Dong Do (Thang Long), founded the Later Le dynasty. The word “Kinh” here does not mean urban but shows the respect for the king’s country.

Lam Kinh adheres to feng shui theory: the north leans on Dau mountain, overlooks Chu river in the South, Phu Lam forest is on the left, Huong mountain is in the right and Ham Rong mountain in the west. Citadel, palaces, shrines in Lam Kinh were built in the axis south – north on a  Vuong-shaped hill (王). It was recorded that four faces of the citadel were 314m in length, 254m width, the northern wall in the shape of a bow had a radius of 164 meters and a thick of 1 meter. Experiencing the extreme devastation of natural disasters, walls, the triumphal arch, shrines…  are now only the ruins.
