Visitors who want to Ninh Binh day trip in only one day can choose the paths as Tam Coc – Bich Dong, Trang An – Bai Dinh or Thung Nham.
Tam Coc – Bich Dong
Tam Coc – Bich Dong is a famous beautiful scenic spot located in Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu district. It is also known as “Ha Long Bay on land” or “Nam Thien đệ nhị động” (the second most beautiful cave in Vietnam). This resort has a natural area of 350 hectares, situated 2 km from National Highway 1A, 7 km from Ninh Binh city center and 9 km from Tam Diep district.
If having only one day, first of all, travelers should visit Bich Dong Pagoda – “Nam Thiên đệ nhị động” to be able to see the whole scene from above. In addition to enjoying the fresh air of the temple in the morning, tourists can visit a landscape and architecture of the “Nam Thien đệ nhị động”. Bich Dong Pagoda was built in Tam Han style, three buildings are not the adjacent nut in three levels along the mountain side from the bottom creating three separate temples which are called Ha (Lower), Trung (Middle) and (Thuong) Upper temple.
In the afternoon, visitors can travel by boat from Dinh The wharf to explore Tam Coc. Tam Coc means three caves: Ca Cave, Hai Cave and Ba Cave. It will take about 2-3 hours to cruise down the Ngo Dong river and go through the three caves as well as the other stops along the way. Tam Coc prettily surprised with towering limestone mountains along with the interesting shapes of the caves.
The appropriate time to go Tam Coc – Bich Dong is in the spring and early summer. For those photographers, both professional and amateur, the period from the late April and the beginning of May is an ideal time for hunting pictures of ripening grain season.
Trang An – Bai Dinh
Bai Dinh, about 15 km Ninh Binh city to the northwest, is the largest pagoda in Vietnam.
